So Apple have finally unveiled their much hyped and highly anticipated piece of software, the i-pad. It looks like something half way between an i-phone and a laptop and I am not convinced by it. It looks a bit ridiculous and I question whether there is a market for it at this time.
The advantage highlighted is the opportunity to download e-books directly to the device, but I am sceptical about this. Are we really going to turn into a nation that reads books from a strange half laptop half i-phone device? I hope not, I love a new book.
The launch could see an interesting turn in the develop of digital journalism with the possibility of newspapers being downloaded to the device. Only time will tell how successful the launch will be.
However, at a cost between $499 and $829 in the US, it’s not something I’ll be forking out for within the next few months.
What do you think?
